GIF is an image format that uses pixels to save an image, which is called a raster image format. A raster image cannot afford multiple time magnification because the image quality will be lost. This command line converts “raster.gif” to “vector.eps” from raster to vector, and the following two figures will display the difference between the source raster image and converted vector image.

In the figure showing the effect of the raster image, you see that the curves are serrated when the image is magnified.

In the next figure that shows the effect of the converted vector EPS image, you can see that the curves maintain smooth no matter how many times the image is magnified.
